Quickie: Nissin Cup Noodles Katsu Curry

One thing I found out moving to an English-speaking country is how my definition of "snack" is different from everybody else's. Imagine my surprise when one time my wife asked me if I wanted a snack, and I was presented with sweets! Clearly that's dessert, something different entirely.

I don't usually have ramen as a snack, only full meals. I made the exception today because I suddenly felt weak in between meals, even though my doctors assure me after numerous blood tests that I have not yet contracted the diabetes endemic to my lineage. I turn to a small Cup Noodles to fill the Cup Noodles-shaped hole in my heart. And my stomach.

No surprises here, just pour in boiling water and wait, although I decided to top it up with some leftover crispy seaweed from a recent Chinese takeaway. No protein trifecta today, I'm only looking to not pass out rather than spoil myself from dinner.

Personally, my favourite Cup Noodles flavour is Seafood. I used to have it for lunch all the time during my first office job years ago. I got ribbed about it, managers jokingly asking me if they weren't paying me enough (they weren't, even if I was making more than most of the rest of the country by way of being a software engineer). At the time I just didn't see the point in everybody else wasting most of what little lunch time we had by crossing two main roads to the nearest mall food court for a "proper" lunch when I could have the whole office to myself to eat in peace. That, and I really, really liked Seafood Cup Noodles.
